Principal's Goals for 2009-10

SRVUSD Goal #1

Increase the academic achievement of all students. Accelerate the academic growth of underperforming students and state designated sub groups.

In the Spring of 2008 the Stone Valley staff created the Stone Valley Learning plan. The learning plan follows the Professional Learning Community model (PLC) and begins with three questions:

  • 1) what do we want students to know (standards)
  • 2) how will we know when they’ve learned it (assessment)
  • 3) what do we do when they don’t (remediation/re-teaching)

Teachers have developed strategic quarterly assessments to assess student learning and remediation plans for the students who do not meet passing thresholds.  To view the Stone Valley Learning Plan click on the link below:

SRVUSD Goal # 2

Strengthen and apply actions that foster responsibility and respect for diversity in a safe and caring environment.

A healthy climate is essential to student learning and productivity. Every year our school community identifies a social area that we perceive students need extra support or guidance. This year we chose to direct our energy to student conduct outside the classroom. Every teacher has included a statement in their syllabus about hallway etiquette. Hallway etiquette will be addressed in every classroom the first few days of school. An administrative meeting will be held for each grade level to reaffirm the hallway etiquette policy. Additionally we are going to increase the supervision in the hallway by staff the first two weeks of school and invite parents to participate in outside supervision. Research indicates that middle school age children reap great benefits from performing acts of community service. The Stone Valley Youthact Club (sponsored by Alamo Rotary) will offer many opportunities throughout the year for students to perform community service for local charities.
