Bio
I grew up in the east bay attending Foothill High School in Pleasanton. From there I attended college at CSU Stanislaus and SUNY New Paltz, I earned my BA at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I have a Multiple Subject credential with a supplemental authorization in Mathematics and a Masters in Mathematics Education form San Francisco State.
The most exciting and different teaching experience I've had is teaching at an Outdoor Education School. Students across different economic and cultural backgrounds would come to camp to learn about science and nature. I had the privilege of teaching small groups about the importance of interdependence, waste, and community. I would help students to break boundaries by taking a solo night hike and participating in team-building activities. This experience was educational for all involved.
As a teacher at Stone Valley I've enjoyed coaching both volleyball and basketball. I believe it is important for students to be involved in extracurricular activities so that they can build teamwork skills and increase their self-esteem. I also co-run the WEB program that introduces new students to Stone Valley.
Outside of schools I am involved in Tri-Valley Animal Rescue whose primary mission is to "trying to give them another chance". My participation allows me to foster dogs until they find a permanent home thus providing them 'another chance'. Please visit their site and browse some of the animals that are waiting to be adopted.
Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions. I can be reached through district email, wnacamu@srvusd.net.
