Bio
I grew up in Miami, Florida. I have always enjoyed sports and received a scholarship to play volleyball in college. I attended Miami-Dade Community College, where I was selected as an All-American, Scholar-Athlete, and Female Athlete of the Year. I then transferred to the University of South Florida where I continued with volleyball. I was a member of the first volleyball team for USF to compete in the NCAA championship tournament and a member of the 3.0+ athletic club.
I have always been interested in education. My father, Charles, inspired me to not just become a teacher, but to be involved in my school. He was an amazing teacher and athletic trainer. My mother, Mary Rose, was also a school secretary and my sisters, Miriam & Michelle are educators as well.
I have taught and coached for 16 years. The first twelve of those years in were Tampa, Florida. I was fortunate to be selected as Teacher of the Year at Stewart Middle Magnet School in 2007. I moved to California because I thought it would be a great place to live. I feel very lucky to be at Stone Valley. In 2010 I was selected for an Honorary Service Award from our SV PTSA. I currently teach P.E., Leadership, and Pledge to Humanity charity class. I also coach 7th grade volleyball and track & field.
I want each of my students to leave my class with an appreciation for sports, exercise, teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership. I hope I can be an inspiration to my students. I love to teach and each day at work is a great day!
